Posted: November 15, 2019
In August 2015, a public hearing was held to present the borrowing of $210,000.00 for Local Improvement by-law no. 6/2015 to pay for the purchase and installation of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and the Ultra Violet Treatment (UV) systems for the Water Treatment Plant Facility. The total estimated cost of the SCADA/UV Systems is $262,000.00, to be funded as follows: $52,000.00 from the General Reserve Fund and $210,000 to be funded by borrowing. The annual repayment amount would be no more than $36,300.00 to be recovered annually via Utility Rate Rider at an estimated $0.30 per cubic meter
Fast forward to November 2019, the purchase and installation is now complete and the Town has received approval from the Public Utility Board, PUB Order 165/19 to proceed with the Utility Rate Rider.
Effective the 2020 1st quarter Utility billing, a $0.24 rate rider will be charged for every cubic meter of water consumed in each property, for the next ten years or until the borrowing is satisfied.
